The award was created in 2014 by Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Sweden and UN Women Sweden with the aim of expanding the knowledge of CEDAW – the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms Discrimination against Women, while recognizing that the application of the Convention is important for a vibrant film industry, where women film-makers are given the possibility to participate on equal terms and opportunities to make their voices heard.
With the award WIFT Sweden and UN Women Sweden wish to contribute to unleash the untold stories of today, and make women’s voices heard. The award is a practical implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, and promotes women’s human rights and fundamental freedoms.
The annual scholarship is given to a person who presents a project of moving images that in terms of content, form and organization and with strong artistic qualities, interprets and translates the principles of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women – CEDAW.
The application for Anna-priset is now closed. The winner will be presented at Tempo International Documentary Film Festival in 8th of March 2025. The prize will be 50 000 sek.
