A CAREER ENHANCING SCHEME FOR WOMEN+

IN TECHNICAL ROLES IN THE FILM & TV INDUSTRY

A pilot scheme to support and upskill 6 women+* for 5 months, through quality practical workshops, learning-by-doing training, a personalised support and the inspiration and guidance from 5 influential ambassadors in the industry.

The programme is aimed for women working in the film and TV industry within the following departments:
camera, lighting, editing and vfx (more departments will be added in the future).

*By using the word “women+” we refer to all women (trans, intersex and cis) as well as all those who experience oppression as women (including non-binary and gender non-conforming people) and all those who identify as women.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY

–  A need for a truly inclusive and diverse workforce throughout all the departments in the film and   TV industry.
–  Current lack of upskilling programs aimed for the technical groups in the industry, which are typically the departments that tend to be less inclusive.
–  A demand for training and support schemes aimed for women wanting to develop in technical roles.

TO SUPPORT AND ELEVATE WOMEN+ IN TECHNICAL ROLES

WHAT ARE WE DOING

OBJECTIVES

–  To ease the barriers that prevents women from developing their career in film and TV.
–  Generate diversity, inclusion and equity in the film and TV industry, with special attention to women who belong to disadvantaged and minority groups.
–  Improve women’s employability in the professional film and TV sector.
–  Facilitate access to professional productions for women wanting to develop their career further.
–  Create an effective and inclusive community/network of women to concretely support women’s careers in technical departments (e.g. camera, lighting, editing and VFX).
–  Promote the professional career of women in the film and TV industry.
–  Increase the number of women in the industry that reached their desired job position, with higher roles and in position of power.
–  Facilitate professional development also for women who live outside of larger urban regions.

WHO IS IT FOR / WHO CAN APPLY

Women+ who have worked in the film and TV industry for at least 2 years within the following departments: camera, lighting, editing and vfx.
Later to widen and include grip, sound and colour grading.

If you work in any of the above departments and you’re interested in participating, please reach out to us! If there’s enough demand for these we could add them.

A TRULY INTERSECTIONAL EQUITY IN THE INDUSTRY

HOW ARE WE DOING IT

3 main strategies
–  Work-based-training in stablished companies and productions
–  Practical workshops carry out by our industry partners
–  Support and guidance from 4 influential ambassadors in the industry
Through a modular and personalised approach:
Listening to each participant’s needs
–  Modular: designed considering the requirements and limitations of the attendee. Financial needs,  family schedules, language etc.
–  Upskilling: paying attention at the industry needs and an evaluation of the applicant’s skills.
–  Addressing learning gaps: for example, after a career break.

WHY DOES IT WORK

Because we listen to women+ in the industry and to her needs.

The applicant is an active creator of her own development, together we rise and open doors!
