Anna-priset

The award

Anna-priset was created in 2014 by Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Sweden and UN Women Sweden with the aim of expanding the knowledge of CEDAW – the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women. The award recognizes that applying the principles of the Convention is essential for a vibrant and inclusive film industry where women film-makers can participate on equal terms and make their voices heard.

In 2025/2026, the award places a special emphasis on strengthening Sámi film production. By highlighting and supporting Sámi perspectives, voices, and storytelling traditions, the award acknowledges the importance of Indigenous representation and the need to ensure that Sámi women and creators have equal opportunities to tell their stories.

With the award, WIFT Sweden and UN Women Sweden aim to help unleash the untold stories of today and amplify women’s voices. Anna-priset serves as a practical implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women and promotes women’s human rights and fundamental freedoms.
