GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FILM!
What place for women in today’s film industry?
Saturday 17th of May, 11.00 am – 1.00 pm
Salon des Ambassadeurs, Level 4, Palais des Festivals, Cannes
The European Audiovisual Observatory is delighted to invite you to attend
its annual Cannes workshop during this year’s Marché du film.
This open workshop will look at the contribution made by women working in today’s film industry. Are women filming under a glass ceiling? Can it be broken?
We’ll start off by presenting the latest national and European major reports on woman in film and asking:
How many films were directed by women over the last few years and what admission figures did they achieve? What role do female scriptwriters play?
How much film funding is awarded to woman? How many women directors are there & how many work for production companies?
An expert panel will then examine possible answers to the question :
What are the challenges for women working in film today and
how can we even up the odds?

We very much look forward to seeing you in Cannes
